OC: DYNAMIC DEADMAN DOUBLE-HEADED REVUE!!

Friday, July 17, 2026, 8:00 pm, classic-editor

JUST ANNOUNCED! EXCLUSIVE, ONE-TIME-ONLY APPEARANCE OF NYC A-G stalwarts/art-stars Peggy Ahwesh and Keith Sanborn! They are at ATA Gallery in person to present a feature program of new and never-seen-in-SF works.

Peggy Ahwesh is a long-time fixture of the Downtown Manhattan scene. Originally storming out of Pittsburgh S8 punk psychodramas, she earned a place of respect in the enriching of the low-gauge scene with themes of feminism and identity. After receiving NYC’s Kathy Acker Award, she recently retired from many years at Bard College, and now is finally able to revisit the Bay Area.

Keith Sanborn came out of Rice University, and soon established himself as not only a high-concept filmmaker, but also as a 20th C European film translator and commentator, especially his essential Situationist edition. Sanborn also just left a long-term assignment at Princeton, to free himself for research/translations, including foundational Esfir Shub texts on film editing.

This Other Cinema Summer Pop-Up (the first of FIVE), might be called a Dynamic Deadman Double- Headed Revue, and will be screened in 2 halves. Peggy’s 40-min set is comprised of The Falling Sky, reworking digital animation of the news, while the half-hour anchor, The Wayfinders, in its West Coast debut, generates a clever detournement of a Jerusalem flight-simulator program towards a poetic critique of the Israeli occupation…and genocide.

Opening the show is a half-hour set of Sanborn’s recent digital video works – in fact 4 pieces. The climax is his 20-min Terrain, a veritable psycho-geography on the favorite haunt of the veritable originator of that now-established genre, Guy Debord! Keith and Peggy will be eager to answer questions about that crucial Situationist writer, and most any Other,
in a comfortable post-screening reception. Drinks on the house!!

$10 DOORS @ 7:30 SHOW @ 8:00 PM
