Spotlit are two prodigal makers who in fact traveled to Tajikistan (!) to both restore and re-use the redoubtable 16mm archives that were left in limbo after the withdrawal of Soviet agency. These masters of re-mediation each returned with a satchel of odd educational propaganda items marginalized in the New Order, and we’ll enjoy the aesthetic rewards of these Cold War artifacts tonight! Mark Boswell world-premieres Lost and Found Bureau of Tajikistan, and John Davis marries mod-synth tracks to Listen! and Stories of the Solar System.
