ZAPATISTA! won First Place for Documentaries at the NEXTFRAME festival and Best of the Festival at the Smithsonian Institute’s Latino Film Festival. It has been honored at festivals around the world, but its real success has been underground, where it has been seen by tens of thousands and has become a powerful manifesto for a growing global movement.

ZAPATISTA! is a non-profit project of Big Noise films co-produced, edited and designed by the Media Boutique.Profits from the film return to the people of Chiapas in the form of humanitarian aid.

ZAPATISTA! is narrated by Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner, Selena), Daryl Hannah (Blade Runner, Splash), Geronimo Pratt (former Black Panther and political prisoner recently released after the discovery of falsified LAPD and FBI testimony),and Mumia Abu-Jamal (also a former Black Panther, who reads narration from his death-row prison cell).

ZAPATISTA! includes interviews with the elusive, poetic spokesperson of the Zapatista movement, Subcomandante Marcos; Comandantes Trini, Tacho, David, and Zebedeo; dissident and MIT Professor Noam Chomsky; international human rights attorney Karen Parker; international women’s rights activist Vivan Stromberg; former prisoner of war Javier Elorriaga; Rage Against the Machine lead singer Zack de la Rocha, and many more.
Music plays an integral role in ZAPATISTA!, weaving in and out of the story reflecting the diverse movement and identities that the Zapatistas have managed to bring together. The film includes songs donated by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Rage Against the Machine, Ozomatli (a Los Angeles-based salsa/hip-hop/funk band), Silvio Rodriguez (a Cuban folk singer),as well as DJ’s from Moscow, London, and San Francisco.

A 30 min. Video Documentary on Burmese Political Prisoners & Prisons in Burma under the military junta. By Assistance Association for Political Prisoners. (www.aappb.org)

Produced & Presented by former political prisoners from Burma.
The living proof of how the military junta in Burma oppresses its own people to silence the movement towards democracy and freedom.  A plea to the world to work towards the immediate release of all political prisoners of Burma including Nobel laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi,leader of the nonviolent movement for human rights and democracy in
Burma (now Myanmar).
