In the video, the well-known musical triptych Trois Gymnopédies by Erik Satie is used as the backdrop for the American rodeo. By weaving the slow motion imagery with the meditative piano music, the rodeo becomes a gracious dance with monumental characters. The three subtle musical variations in Saties composition highlight the three different categories within the rodeo competition. With straw bales as scented props, the stage is set for a “cowboys’ ballet performance” framed in the old fashion Western trade cards designs.
