Catch this 2nd annual national indie-film adventure.

The Gadabout Traveling Film Festival circulates underground talent from around the world.  Gadabout was created as a new outlet for independent filmmakers to showcase their work. It gives filmmakers a whole new way of distributing and will appear in over 30 cities from coast to coast in 6 weeks.

This year’s selections are rich in diversity and represent a full spectrum of creativity across the nation and the world (India, Singapore, Australia, Argentina, Israel, and the U.K.).

Independent in every sense, these films share the same willingness to challenge the conventions set for commercial filmmaking. This is filmmaking as an art form.

Gadabout also includes performances by the Macaulay Culprits, a small art show and a zine distro.

ANSWER presents “Salt of the Earth”, a film based on a 1950 strike by zinc miners in Silver City, New Mexico. Against a backdrop of social injustice, a riveting family drama is played out by the characters of Ramon and Esperanza Quintero, a Mexican-American miner and his wife. In the course of the strike, Ramon and
Esperanza find their roles reversed: an injunction against the male strikers
moves the women to take over the picket line, leaving the men to domestic
duties. The women evolve from men’s subordinates into their allies and equals.

Made during the height of the McCarthy era by a group of blacklisted
filmmakers who were among the best and the brightest Hollywood talent of the
day, Salt of the Earth is a powerful and emotionally charged feature length
    film.
