Archimedia: New Workshop Series at ATA!
Instructors are an internationally exhibited design/research team, Archimedia,(award winning filmmaker David Cox and media artist/writer Molly Hankwitz) offering an array of experimental workshops on the creative use of and exploration of mobile, portable and networked tools is being offered at ATA starting March 28th to June 20th. All courses run four hours, 1pm to 5pm and are held on Saturdays. Cost is
$40.00 per workshop unless otherwise noted. Interested students are asked to bring their own equipment: laptop, cell phone, digital cameras and camcorders, gaming devices, electronic “toys”, power cords, batteries, etc. In the interests of appealing to those who do not own many gadgets but want to get started, some equipment may be provided or shared. All levels welcome! Bring tools you most want to work with. Wi fi enabled tools are encouraged and there is wi fi at ATA. Courses will be open until filled.
Standard fees:
$40 one class
$60 two classes
$80 three classes
Registration is non refundable and is confirmed by advance payment in full by check or money order with a note or email stating your preferred classes and dates. Please include a list of what you intend to work with, and what you are interested in working on.

Saturday 4/11 and 5/30 — GEOTAGGING: MAPPING AND MEDIA An overview of the available useful, free mapping resources and the benefits and drawbacks to each, including Google maps, Yahoo maps, MapQuest, and others. Examine the role these play in the development of geography-based art. Experiment with GPS and geotagging; using portable screens for locative media. Learn the basics and the culture.

sur lherbe is a video piece that depicts the perception
of human behavior in technological time. A group of people
engaged in a prolonged period of enigmatic behavior in the
woods, while being caught by a voyeuristic surveillance.
The nature of the actions and the relations among the
people are at times playful, sexual and mysterious. It is
presented in a sped up video and audio image, giving the
activity an animal or insect like quality. The video never
reveals the real event, which at the same time while it
draws frustration from the viewer, it provides an open
framework for interpretation. The title and framing of the
video reference the painting by Manet, le dejeuner sur
lherbe.
