You, who have lived on earth for me,

My armour and my blood-relations

From Alighieri to Schiaparelli,

I thank you: for how well you burned.

And do not I burn too, and well?

Is it indifference that blinds me

To you , for whom I’ve lived on earth,

To grass and stars, to butterflies and children.
