MOVING SHELTER #2

Friday, March 4, 2016, 8:00 pm, $7-$10

SFiCA is pleased to announce Moving Shelter #2, a night of performance and video art, to take place on March 4th at Artists’ Television Access. Moving Shelter is an ongoing curatorial project initiated by SFiCA that aims to position work in a variety of media engaged with the limits of home, mobility, and durability. From the daily personal experience of commute, to local processes of gentrification and displacement, to global patterns of migration and mass refuge, to non-place-based digital comfort, movement and shelter are increasingly charged signals of contemporary politics and culture. The second installment of Moving
Shelter brings together artists examining this spectrum of issues through the concept of “the body as shelter.” The night will conclude with a discussion between artists and curators.

Performance works by Luna G. Reiley, Melissa Koziebrocki, and Prima Sakuntabhai
Video works by Danna Bialik and Izidora Leber,

Curated by SFiCA
SFiCA is a coalition between students and alumni of California College of the Arts and the San Francisco Art Institute whose mission is to provide platforms for dialogue, exhibition, and participation while fostering a culture of collaboration between the graduate programs of CCA and SFAI. Resting on the tenants of inclusion and openness, SFiCA situates artists, curators, designers and writers within the arts community of the Bay Area and beyond.
