Marya Krogstad is a San Francisco based multi-media artist working in installation/environments, sculpture, film, video, audio, photography, and performative work. At times, the installations may position the viewer as a participant or subject of the work. Krogstad addresses concepts of transience and the encounter. Situations are proposed in which we may see ourselves and the spaces we occupy in new ways. The in-between spaces, the oneiric, and notions relating to identity, help to inform the work.

Krogstad received her M.F.A. in 2009 from the San Francisco Art Institute and exhibits nationally and internationally.  She is currently an Artist in Residence at Kala Art Institute and was a recent Affiliate artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts.
