8:00 Tim Perkis (electronics and video) solo
9:00 Ollie Bown (electronics), raven (cello) and Bill Hsu (video)
For tonight’s concert, Tim Perkis will be premiering a new solo work for video and electronic sound.
Ollie Bown & raven are 2/5 of improv quintet Tangents, a musical friendship formed before Bown moved to Sydney. As a duo their live set consists of long-form improvisations around Bown’s software that loops, layers and resamples raven’s cello along with beats and sounds. Sets frequently move in abstract directions, but keep a melodic and rhythmic core. For their ATA set, Bill Hsu will work with interactive video that combines real-world footage with generative processes.
Tim Perkis has been working in the medium of live electronic and computer sound for many years, performing, and recording in North America,Europe and Japan. He is a well known performer in the world of improvised music, having performed on his electronic improvisation instruments with hundreds of artists and groups, and is also a filmmaker and video artist.
