Job Opening: Gallery/Sales Director at NIAD Art Center

NIAD Art Center seeks a motivated, energetic, Gallery/Sales Director who will coordinate and implement our exhibition program. NIAD Art Center is the home for 65 artists and the Gallery/Sales Director is responsible for exhibiting, marketing and the selling the art that is produced here. The Gallery/Sales Director will develop the art gallery schedule; select artists for solo and group shows; prepare and install exhibits; and collaborate with artists, staff, and community partners. The Gallery Director will also prepare and preside over show openings and present related programs for the community, serve as a Gallery and Artist representative, as needed. The Gallery/Sales Director will also be responsible for preparing promotional materials for exhibits and maintaining our social media networks and website.

The Gallery/Sales Director will be responsible for maintaining the budget for the gallery and for working with the Executive Director for occasional grant opportunities in support of the Gallery and related programs.

Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is required, Masters is preferred, as well as a minimum of two years experience in curating and installing art exhibits. Related experience in marketing and sales required. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, writing skills, a collaborative spirit, and an interest in connecting diverse artists and audiences. Computer design skills and social media experience is required as well as knowledge of WordPress. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate personal initiative, self‐motivation, and the ability to conceive, design and implement new ideas in their areas of responsibilities.

The Organization: Now in its 30th year, the NIAD Art Center is a lively, non‐profit arts organization that annually presents 5 to 8 art exhibits focusing on the art produced by NIAD’s 65 artists. An important part of our mission is providing income to our clients through art sales and we are looking to increase this revenue.

The Position: This is a full‐time salaried position with some weekend and evening hours. Benefits include health/dental insurance, vacation and optional 403 b pension plan.
