The 1st Annual San Francisco Immigrant Film Festival will be screening works that explore a wide array of issues facing the global immigrant community. These works showcase the lives of immigrants, exiles, and their pursuit of equality and social justice.

‘Obesity’ (Obesidad) 7’, Vicky Ramirez, USA 2010, Doc. Food is a very important element for Mexicans in the preservation of their culture when they move to US. However, what happens when food and culture interfere with a healthy life style? This documentary explores this important topic.

‘Shopping To Belong‘, 30’, Irene Sosa, HD, USA 2007, Doc, SF Premier. Why do Latinos shop? This documentary answers these questions in an engaging 30-minutes video that touches on issues of identity, citizenship, and the loss of homeland faced by the Latino immigrants.

grant trying to find a job in America and an American family who’s uncle’s racial intolerance has a strong effect on his nephew.

‘Undocumented Hope‘, 29‘.37“, Tanvir R. Toy, HD, USA 2010,Doc, SF Premier. This documentary tells the story of four young individuals who migrated to USA with their parents at an early age. They grew up in America and received an education, only to eventually discover that they are living illegally in this country.
