BARR: (from vice mag)

BARR is this kid Brendan Fowler from Baltimore via New York, but he  lives in Los Angeles, which is where he belongs. Not because LA is  full of bronzed robots who won’t hug you unless you make at least

$300K a minute, but because LA is always sunny and so is BARR. He is kind of, sort of, a rapper, but more of a motivational speaker  for lapsed indie and punk kids, like if Paul Barman played with  Bedroom Productions. He’s in a band called New England Roses with JD  from Le Tigre and their other friend Sarah Shapiro, but Brendan’s  full-time job is being BARR. And BARR is a full-time ambassador from  the People’s Republic of Warm Huggy Vibes.

THIS SONG IS A MESS BUT SO AM I:

Using crashing synthesizers, drum machines in a state of disarray,  blasts of white noise, and morose lyrics, the one man project of This  Song Is A Mess But So Am I paints a vulgar picture of life. Twenty  year old Freddy Ruppert has been playing out as This Song Is A Mess  But So Am I since May of 2003, and this January saw the release of a  split 7″ with Xiu Xiu. Mixing the electronic music styles of noise,  electro, and IDM with the urgency of punk, he creates a very bizarre  brand of anxiety filled synthpop. His songs are very personal, honest  and bring a heavy emotional weight to electronic music. His live  shows are known for being filled with the bursting energy of a  nervous breakdown.

MEN WHO CAN’T LOVE

Men Who Can’t Love are an ever revolving cast of Los Angeles noise musicicans.  There is no center core, anyone is free to leave the group or anyone is free to join it.  The sets are filled with chaos and pure violence, as each member throws down a set of some of the most exciting harsh noise to have cropped up recently.  Using pedals, circuit bent instruments, and even a modified acoustic guitar, the set is certain to be one of the most dangerous 10 minutes of your life.
