Ripple Project Fundraiser and Reception
Thursday, January 1, 1970, 12:00 am, $10
It is estimated that 12% to 15% of all South Africans are HIV+, which will
result in about three million orphans by the year 2010. Join a small group
of inspired activists as they raise money for the Topsy Foundation Ripple
Project, a student-developed campaign that sends young people to Africa to
work in orphanages to help children learn skills to become productive
members of society, in spite of the impact of HIV/AIDS.
The evening will offer a glimpse into a small village in the Mpumalanga
Province of South Africa, where four students from Prescott College spent
three months building an art room, caring for the orphaned children, and
witnessing firsthand the effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. A screening of
the student-produced film will follow a short presentation.
Tickets are
$10 at the door, and additional donations are welcomed.
