Counterflicks: An evening with KATE MCCABE

Wednesday, August 10, 2022, 8:00 pm, $7-10

Kate Mccabe In Person!

Join us in welcoming Joshua Tree-based filmmaker KATE MCCABE to San Francisco tonight! Artist, filmmaker, photographer and writer, KATE’S films explore our relationship with LANDSCAPE, TIME, and our connections to cultures both future and vanished. Using TIME-LAPSE, ABSTRACTION, ANIMATION and other techniques, Kate’s eclectic body of work responds to tragedies, celebrates friends, meditates on landscapes—more often than not the sublime beauty of her beloved Joshua Tree desert home—and specters of dark pasts long gone but still eerily felt. A graduate of CALARTS, Kate has taught film at UC SAN DIEGO and CALARTS, and her experimental films have screened all over the world. Tonight’s screening includes her series “TWILIGHT WORLDS,” “MILK AND HONEY,” PORTRAITS (on 16mm) and the San Francisco premiere of her latest film, “KNOWN UNKNOWNS,” Kate’s testament to hope and new beginnings in the wake of the COVID pandemic.
