Dina Maccabee: San Francisco Solo CD Release
Dina will present her entire new solo album for viola, voice, and processing, live, with video projections contributed by an eclectic group of far flung collaborators. This special event celebrates her CD release for the Bay Area, where she played with groups like Real Vocal String Quartet, Ramon & Jessica, and many others.

Violist and songwriter Dina Maccabee creates new sounds drawing on many adventurous years of collaboration, exploration and musical travels. A member of noted songwriter Julia Holter’s touring band during 2015 and 2016, in that time she also created the World Is In The Work, her brand new solo album for viola, voice, and laptop processing. Developed between tour stops around the world, the album tests the boundaries of its sparse instrumentation as the viola is transformed from its classical origins into a richly layered accompaniment and hypnotic rhythmic engine.
Jeremy Rourke creates stop-motion films made from vintage photographs, paint, leaves, paper and other ephemera and scores these animations during live performances with acoustic instrumentation and his own voice. A self-taught animator eschewing digital effects for hands-on techniques, he is currently producing an experimental, animated documentary about ATA with the help of the Creative Work Fund. Rourke’s films have screened in Atlanta, Chicago, and Portland, Oregon, and internationally at the Budapest Short International Film Festival and the Wimbledon International Short Film Festival in England.
