covershot_hiresJeepneys presents the premiere of “OLINGLINGO: THE MOVIE,” a video opera meets experimental performance documentary at a one-night screening at Artists Television Access. Julius Smack, a Los Angeles-based dancer and musician also presents a new butoh and contemporary dance performance.

“OLINGLINGO” is a multimedia opera, a ceremony to invoke ancestral memory from the future to the past, from earth to outer space. Using footage from live performance, staged footage, and 80’s-style analog video graphics, the opera explores embodied cultural transfers, ecstatic celebrations, pensive prayers, and healing release.

The event also celebrates the release of “OLINGLINGO” on cassette. The limited edition 60-minute recording features tracks from the opera plus a composition by Jeepneys for a performance at the Los Angeles Central Public Library in July 2014 titled, “Shades of the Jeepneys Planet.”

DJ Adee Roberson plays records and Black Salt Collective (Grace Rosario Perkins, Adee Roberson, Sarah Sass Biscarra-Dilley, and Jeepneys) presents an art installation.
