Artists’ Television Access is a San Francisco-based, artist-run, non-profit organization that cultivates and promotes culturally-aware, underground media and experimental art. We provide an accessible screening venue and gallery for the presentation of programmed and guest-curated screenings, exhibitions, performances, workshops and events. We believe in fostering a supportive community for the exhibition of innovative art and the exchange of non-conformist ideas.
The notion of the Black Radical Imagination stemmed from a series of discussions around the boundaries and limitations that are historically given to people of color. Specifically, in the film industry these restrictions are often digested and kept to propel a vicious cycle of negative identification. Black Radical Imagination invokes a futurist aesthetic where artists identify themselves and reclaim their own unique stories.
It features Golden Chain by Adebukola Bodunrin & Ezra Claytan Daniels (2013), Afronauts by Cristina De Middel (2013), Mae’s Journal by Amir George (2013), Quiescence Interrupted… Adumbrate by Anasi Knowbody (2013), Split Ends, I Feel Wonderful by Akosua Adoma Owusu (2012), Reifying Desire 2 by Jacolby Satterwhite (2012), and Changing Same by Cauleen Smith (2001)
The screening will include a roundabout dialogue with the audience members and featured filmmakers to further ponder and process the stories that are being presented.

Volunteer with ATA!
ATA is looking for volunteers to help with our Gallery and our Screenings. Volunteers run screenings, organize events, curate shows, and get stuff done. Volunteers can come to any ATA show for free. We need people who are creative, reliable, and willing to commit to 4 hours a week.
