Call for submissions: The Tradewinds Revival Drive-In Screening (ISEA 2012)

Friends of the Orphan Signs http://friendsoftheorphansigns.org/ in conjunction with ISEA 2012 http://www.isea2012.org/ hosts a special drive-in screening: The Tradewinds Revival, SEPT 21, 2012, 8-11 pm, Albuquerque, NM.

Stopping and staying is a form of occupying a space, particularly when groups of people occupy relatively deserted and unremarkable spots such as the lot at San Mateo and Central Ave in Albuquerque, New Mexico, site of the former Tradewinds Motel along route 66. Our hope is that the busyness of the viewer’s experience at the ISEA conference will be temporarily suspended as they spend time in this rest stop.

Please submit short videos considering the theme of stopping and staying, to be projected on one or more “screens“ on the east facing wall of the Octopus Car wash at one end of the lot. Audio will simultaneously be broadcast on local radio frequencies, and viewers will be encouraged to “drive- in “ to experience the works.

Deadline for submissions: SEPT 15, 2012
