In historic St. Charles, Missouri, spirited Terrie O’Neal who never had the big family she wanted, welcomes two schizophrenic Vietnam veterans and one blind World War II veteran into the home she shares with her eleven year-old son and 82 year-old father. Using cinema verite observation that allows us to intimately watch a household struggle to define itself as family. Returning to the old notion of caring for community, Ms. O’Neal is part of a growing number of foster caregivers for disabled veterans. Produced by Alexandra Nikolchev, a bay area filmmaker inspired by the likes of Werner Herzog and Frederick Wiseman. Alexandra currently lives in NYC and recently received her master’s in journalism at New York University. She is premiering Part of Me Came Home at ATA. Free event, drinks will be served.
