Metal Rouge and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma perform live to two new Super 8mm
films by S.F. filmmaker Paul Clipson
Metal Rouge are the LA based duo of Helga Fassonaki and Andrew Scott.
With guitar, santoor, contact microphones & a battery of effects pedals
they kick up the kind of storm one would expect to hear from a full band
of musicians playing on a airfield. It’s not all cosmic implosion
though, “When they strip things down the near-silence roars even more” –
 The Wire
Jefre Cantu-Ledesma is a founding member of the band Tarentel and has been
releasing long form work using string and wind instruments under his own
name for the last few years. His work has been described by Aquarius
records as everything from ” stretched out and darkly glistening deep
resonant tones” to ” glowing tongues of distorted flame.”
Paul Clipson works primarily in Super 8mm film, shooting and largely
editing “in-camera”, in an improvised manner that brings to light
subconconscious preoccupations in the hope of allowing for un-thought,
unexpected visual elements to reveal themselves. He exhibits his work in
collaboration with experimental music and sound artists.
