The object of a near-universal (and eternally abiding) adoration by film fanatics all over the world since its first release, Robert Wienes German horror classic “THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI” (1919) is certainly one of the most visually striking films ever made once seen, never forgotten. Who among you can say that Conrad Veidt hasnt crawled across the painted sets of your nightmares or your deepest fantasies?
“CALIGARI” will tonight be presented with a new score, composed for this screening and performed live by Trash Fish Entertainment Corporation recording artists “The Zag Men”, that will do musical justice to the Expressionist décor, convoluted narrative, and paranoid ideations of this canonical film text.
“The Zag Men” are currently recording their debut album for Trash Fish. They have previously performed new scores for Murnaus “Nosferatu” and Paul Lenis “The Man Who Laughs’, both at Artists Television Access. Their Murnau trilogy will continue with “The Last Laugh” and “Faust”, both to be presented at ATA later this Year.
“The Zag Men” are Les Raww (guitar, violin), Col. Timothy Leather (upright and electric bass), and “Uncle” Dodds (drums & allsorts). They are joined for this screening by special guest pianist Astronaut Body of “Reagans Polyp”. www.thezagmen.com
