NoisePop: SPEEDER KILLS & ALL THIS WAY

Sunday, March 2, 2003, 4:00 pm

WORLD PREMIERE! On the run from a $45,000 debt, Texas-born, San Francisco-based video artist Amalia has returned home to San Antonio. When selling folk art door-to-door doesn’t work out, she turns her artistic sights on the Chicano punk band rehearsing across the street. She wants to make a documentary about them; they just want a music video. What follows is a delectable blend of indie rock, Mexican American culture, kidnapping plots and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Dir. Jim Mendiola, USA 2003, 83 min.

ALL THIS WAY
Touring through the Southwest in a beat-up van, Rose is forced to make some difficult decisions about her band, her music and her future. Although it’s set in Arizona, much of this locally produced short was shot at the Make Out Room. Dir. Alexandra Lacey, USA 2002, 23 min.
